Submissions Guidelines and Information
Literacy Across Cultures (LAC)welcomes submissions in English on
all topics related to the teaching and learning of reading and writing in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in any country. Literacy Across Cultures is distributed in print as well as on-line at our World Wide Web site, and in an e-mail version. We invite any interested person to submit:
- articles (around up to between 3000-5000 words)
- perspective/opinion pieces (up to 2000 words)
- book reviews (up to 1500 words) (see Reviews Editor information below)
- annotated bibliographies
- short summaries/reviews of journal articles
- responses to LAC articles
- descriptions/reviews of literacy-related World Wide Web sites
- classroom and teaching tips
for upcoming issues and for the WWW site. Submissions which follow APA
style guidelines are preferred. In addition, we welcome lists of references
on topics related to literacy to help build a references list to include in our WWW site. We encourage relevant submissions that may not fit into any of the categories above.
Publication Schedule and Deadlines
The print version of Literacy Across Cultures is published once a year, in October. Submissions for consideration for any issue should be received by the editor by the 20th of the August. The e-mail and WWW versions are generally made available between 3 to 6 months after the print version is published. If you would like be added to our e-mailing list to receive current and past e-mail versions of LAC, please contact Charles Jannuzi at jannuzi@edu00.f-edu.fukui-u.ac.jp for more information.
Submissions can be made in the following ways:

As attachments to an e-mail message to the newletter editor. The text should
be provided twice, once in a Text file (.TXT) format and once in a Rich
Text Format (.RTF). The e-mail message should include a brief message to
the editor explaining the content of the submission and a short personal
biography to accompany the submission if accepted. The message should include
information about what computer OS was used (Mac or IBM) and what word
processor was used, including the version number of that software. If possible,
a version saved in a Word Perfect format (preferably an older version, such as 5.2) would
be appreciated. It should be sent to the LAC current editor, Charles Jannuzi at dcdycus@asu.aasa.ac.jp. If problems with e-mail occur, messages can also be sent to Charles Jannuzi

On a 1.44 mb floppy disk accompanied by a printed version of the submission.
The text on the floppy disk should be provided in 3 formats, once in a
Text file (.TXT) format and once in a Rich Text Format (.RTF), and once
in whatever the original format of the wordprocessing software is. If possible,
a version saved in a Word Perfect format (preferably an older version, such as 5.2) would
be appreciated. A short personal biography should accompany the submission.
It should be sent to to the address given below.

(If the writer does not have access to a word processor or e-mail) Typed,
double-spaced, with two copies of the manuscript provided, accompanied
by a short personal biography and contact information. It should be sent
to the address given below.
If the document includes graphics, tables, drawings, etc., they should
be save as separate files on the floppy disk or sent as separate e-mail
attachments, in one of these formats: .JPG, .BMP, .GIF, .PCX, or .WPG.
A printed copy should also be included.

Teaching Material Review Section. We are looking for reviews of any books related to literacy issues in and out of the classroom, and especially books and textbooks and/or teaching materials with a connection to teaching L2 reading and/or writing skills.
